Ice Roads On-Ice Clinics NAIFC USA Ice Team

Continued Thanks

Mike McNett | February 13th, 2008

USA Ice Team would like to extend a continued thanks to everyone’s support, time and donations!

The beginning of the 2007-2008 season has been as good as last years’ start. The Baker Family golf outing raised $3300.00 for the USA Ice Team. I can’t think of a better way to raise money than on Jack Baker’s golf course in Canon Falls MN. Jack is the golf pro and is also a pro on the Ice Team tournament trail. Jack qualified for the 2006 NAIFC last year with his daughter Greta. She is the youngest member to participate for the national title.

The Summit Golf Club fundraiser #3 had 80 golfers participate on 26 August on a beautiful summer day. The winning golfers in the scramble each won a St. Croix (UL) Legend Ice rod. The second place guys each received a Thorne Brothers rod. The third place team received a St. Croix premier rod and the fourth place team received a StikeMaster Mora ice auger for each of the golfers.

One of the highlights of the game was a mid-way snack of fresh fried walleye cooked by Jacks neighbor Brian on hole #5. At the end of the round was a feast of Brats, hamburgers and beans followed by the raffle. As usual the Sponsors came through with some great prizes. A huge thank you to StrikeMaster, St. Croix, NatureVision, Little Atom, Christian Brothers, Maki Plastics, Clam Corp., LakeMaster Maps, Arctic Fisherman and Gerbing’s heated clothing. I would also like to thank the golfers who came out to support the team.

A special thanks to Kent Holden, who for the third time has donated the cost for three teams to play for each of the events. Kent is a local hog farmer and has graciously donated a hog for next year. Jack is planning the event already and has chosen 31 August 2008 for the next date. Great golf, fresh walleye, a pig roast, friendly people and great prizes. What more could you possibly ask for? My prediction is that it will become an event not to be missed. If you would like to know more about the event you can contact me via email or Jack Baker at jbaker@summitgolfclub.com or call Jack 507.263.4648.

2008 Beaver Dam Pig Roast hosted by the Lost Lake Preservation Club is Saturday 13 October 2007 with a start time at Noon. The fundraiser will be held at the Beaver Dam Conservation Club on highway G in Beaver Dam WI. Along with the fantastic pig roast there will also be a band playing during the feast and a huge raffle for thousands of dollars in prizes from the same sponsors listed above. See below for a partial list of the prizes:

Along with the raffle ticket prizes there will also be walk around raffles, fish bowl, paddle wheel and an auctioneer. The raffle tickets are three for $5 or six for $10. They can be purchased at the event or by calling Mike McNett at 630.627.3333. The price for the dinner is $5. There will also be beer and soda available.

Last year Smitty brought the Ice Team trailer full of all of the newest technology the ice fishing industry has to offer. This year, Tim Carter and his brand new 2008 Argos will join Smitty. There will be free rides for the kids and anyone else who wants to feel like a kid can ride.

Thank you all for the time you put in to help the USA Ice Team and a special thanks to the sponsors that gave a huge amount of products. We could not have had the events without all the support.
